We are already a couple of months into 2022 and we had so many games announcements and delays, but what Nintendo dropped today surprised everyone. Xenoblade Chronicles 3 was originally announced on the last Nintendo Direct back in February with the original release date of September 2022, however that has all changed with the new official release date of July 29th, 2022.
Before anything, I am going to just say I was a bit late in the Xenoblade Chronicles series, I missed playing the Xenoblade Chronicles on the Nintendo Wii and 3DS however I fell in love with it when Xenoblade Chronicles 2 came on the switch, and in the end, I had to pick up every single title that was released. The reason I fell in love with the series, was the way the story was written and how the characters develop throughout the storyline, the anime character designs, however, the combat system was a bit tricky to get used to, but it was something new and not quite traditional in other JRPG like turn-based or action RPG, but I dealt with it and learn.
Here is the New Trailer that shows some more gameplay that includes the combat systems which also teases a bit of the new characters that will get to meet.
A vast new world awaits in Xenoblade Chronicles 3 the next sequel that connects the futures of the two previous Xenoblade Chronicles games and invites players to embark on an epic adventure with “life” as its central theme developed by MONOLITHSOFT. In the game, players will step into the roles of protagonists Noah and Mio amid turmoil between the nations of Keves and Agnus. Six characters hailing from those nations join forces to learn the truth behind their conflict and set their sights on Swordsmarch, a land pierced by a giant sword.
- Battle with up to seven characters: Like in previous Xenoblade Chronicles games, battles start by facing enemies directly in the overworld. Players can control Noah’s party of six, as well as additional characters they’ll meet during the adventure. Each character has a role in battle, which allows for diverse strategies.
- Class change: Noah is a Swordfighter, specializing in close-range attacks, while Mio is a Zephyr, drawing enemy attention while evading their strikes. Thus, each character has their class with their strengths. Progressing in the adventure, players can change characters’ classes, creating a customized party.
- New Interlink system: Each of the tag-team pairs – Noah and Mio, Lanz and Sena, Eunie and Taion – can make use of the Interlink system if certain conditions are met. They will then combine into a giant form called Ouroboros. Each Ouroboros has its own powerful move set and deciding when to transform can be the key to winning a battle.
A of the game will also be available via the My Nintendo Store, including package artwork from Masatsugu Saito, a full-color 250-page+ hardcover art book, Xenoblade, and a steel case. More details about the Special Edition will be revealed in the future.
Are you planning to pick up Xenoblade Chronicles 3 for yourself when it releases this summer? What do you think about the special edition? The new Trailer? The most important question is what your thought was when they changed the release date from September to July?
