During Pax East 2022, there were so many games to check out. From fantasy Role-playing games to simulator games, I was on a mission to find something fast-paced with tons of explosions. I found my calling at the Wired Productions Booth, where I had the chance to check out an exclusive demo of an upcoming fast-paced Twin Shooter Game called Tiny Troopers: Global OPS developed by Epiphany Games. I was interested in checking out this game because I like a good fast-paced shooter; to be honest, I am also not a huge fan of twin shooter games but I was hoping this game would change my mind. Tiny Troopers: Global OPS is a game where you command a squad of elite Tiny Troopers in action-packed missions to combat hordes of heavily armed enemies from all corners of the world.
The Demo
The demo started with a dialogue comic cutscene with the main mission’s goal, which is to protect the world. After the cutscene, I was prompted to start customizing my tiny troopers in the headquarters; the amount of customization is fantastic. I was able to customize not only how my troopers looked but also the combat uniform they wore. I was able to make one trooper look like Rambo which was super cool and another trooper was in a Clown outfit for giggles. The other two I left default.
There was time for some exploration in the base to see what we had in store. There was the armory where I could upgrade my troopers’ stats and unlock more weapons or support weapons such as Air Strikes for my squad. Afterward, I continued my exploration and found a training area; I started a mini-arcade scenario which was to shoot all the chickens running around on the base within the time limit. I finished exploring. After exploring I was ready to start my first mission and I could select a couple of different missions from the desert, tundra, or urban warfare.
Chosen Mission
The Tiny Troopers’ mission I picked in the desert area’s goal was to find the bomb in one of the shipping containers and disable it. I lead my squad into the port area and there were so many enemies coming at us; it was just nonstop fighting with no room to breathe. With that in mind, we had a mission timer and we had to finish the mission as quickly as possible. During the mission, I encounter a side mission to find all the gasoline containers and this also has a timer to complete as well.
There were times when the enemies were too overwhelming so I had to call in an airstrike and all I can say is it was an impressive moment just to see the amount of destruction the explosions caused. Afterward, we proceeded to the mission area where the containers were and I was able to find the device. After finding the device, I had to head to the evac location with my squad and of course, enemies were waiting for us as we tried to evacuate the area. We were finally able to evacuate and finish the mission and we got some reward experience for my troopers so they can get stronger and unlock more skills, but also, I got to see my mission result score which was a B because I wasn’t fast enough on completing the mission.
Takeaway Thoughts
My thoughts for this game are “I need it now”. The game feels complete and ready to dive in since I didn’t run into any problems playing the demo. The game I feel will has an epic campaign mode which I am looking forward to playing more and more after that one mission. However, I am looking forward to playing the game more with my friends since the game has online co-op gameplay with up to 4 players. Customization can be quite fun and I can see myself playing with that so I can have a roughneck squad. I hope they add leaderboards to the game for each mission so we can compete online or with our friends to see who can get the highest score for each mission.
Tiny Troopers: Global OPS will be coming to Nintendo Switch, PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series S|X, and it is expected to be released later this year.
