Turn-based Mech RPG Wolfstride Now Available on Nintendo Switch

Raw Fury has announced the noir mecha turn-based mecha RPG Wolfstride has launched and is now available for Nintendo Switch. This unique take on turn-based RPGs embraces its edginess and grayscale art style while telling a tale of criminals looking to turn a new page in their lives.

Shadow Drop

Raw Fury made the surprise announcement on Tuesday, May 10th, with the game debuting on the Nintendo eShop. WolfStride originally launched on PC last December, garnering a “very positive” rating on the store. A cumulative all-time score of 90% out of the 316 reviews. Wolfstride wears its inspirations on its sleeve, clearly inspired by unconventional mecha anime such as Gurren LagannBig O, and most especially Patlabor. In Wolfstride, several criminals, have lived a life of crime and debauchery for some time. Looking to put the past behind them, they need to get out of the game, but before they do, they need to wipe away their debts. By building their mech and participating in the underground mecha fighting league, their best chance to leave the past behind is to win no matter what.

Pixel-Art Turn-Based Combat

Wolfstride tells its story through a pixelated presentation, reminiscent of the Nintendo Game Boy. Players meet with an eclectic group of characters, including anthropomorphic dog people. In combat, players take to their mech and fight in a no-holds-barred battle to win. They will use machine guns, melee weapons, heavy armor, and good old-fashioned metal fisticuffs. In typical RPG fashion, players fight in turn-based combat, positioning themselves to have the best opportunity to attack. Players may also play mini-games to earn more money between matches, and level up their mech for better combat ability.

Pushed Under The Rug

The sudden release of Wolfstride seemingly came out of nowhere, and with the news of the Nintendo Indie World showcase, it seems like Wolfstride got swept up in the excitement of other indie games. However, perhaps Wolfstride will find an audience to the Nintendo eShop enthusiasts out there. With the Switch’s ability to take the experience on the go, now’s the chance to experience something new and refreshing!

Wolfstride is now available on the Nintendo Switch eShop for the price of $14.99 USD.
