Over the last few months, images for an upcoming Resident Evil game continued to emerge. At the time, many suspected that the leaked images were for an upcoming announcement for Resident Evil 4 or Resident Evil Versus. During Sony’s State of Play, Sony had the honor of debuting the trailer for the remastered Resident Evil 4. After the Resident Evil 4 trailer, Resident Evil Village VR showed all the fun players can have as Ethan Winters. Experience all the glory of Lady D right in front of your face. Today, Capcom unveiled further details about their upcoming Resident Evil Projects set to release within the year.
Capcom had more Resident Evil news to share this time than at the Sony press conference. Capcom’s press conference revealed more information about Resident Evil 4, Resident Evil Versus, Resident Evil Village VR, The Winter’s Expansion, and the next-gen releases of the previous Resident Evil titles; that’s right, you can now play Resident Evil 2, 3, and Village on your Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5. What’s even better is all three games are free to upgrade at no additional cost via the digital upgrade program and Smart Delivery. PC patches for all three titles arrive today as well.
With a next-gen release, comes some upgrades to past titles. The three titles have received a 4K resolution upgrade, ray tracing, high frame rate, and 3D audio. PlayStation 5 controllers will utilize DualSense haptic feedback and adaptive trigger support.
Resident Evil Village Updates
During the Capcom Presentation, the team revealed a bunch of new information regarding Resident Evil Village. In addition to the upcoming VR, Resident Evil Village will feature some new content. On October 28th, 2022, The Winter’s Expansion will become available on all platforms. The Winter’s Expansions adds Third-Person mode to the game. Additionally, Mercenaries will have new stages and three new playable characters, Chris Redfield, Heisenberg, and Lady Dimitrescu. The last and most exciting news regarding the Winter’s Expansion is the Shadows of Rose DLC coming to RE Village.
The Shadows of Rose DLC is set 16 years after Resident Evil Village. This new tale follows Rose Winters, the daughter of Ethan, as she struggles with her terrifying powers. Players must explore and survive a warped and mysterious realm inside the consciousness of the Megamycete in search of a cure.
Resident Evil Village Gold Edition comes with the Winters’ Expansion and the main game; it will be available to purchase on Oct. 28, 2022, in physical and digital formats for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Steam, and Stadia.
