Horror Game Fobia: St. Dinfna Hotel Launches on Console and PC

It’s summer vacation, and it’s a good time to check into the St. Dinfna Hotel. Maximum Games and developer Pulsatrix Studios have released a launch trailer to celebrate the release of their highly ambitious horror game, Fobia: St. Dinfna Hotel, out today on Console and Steam. As amateur journalist Roberto Leite Lope, players chase a potentially big story, into a place with a tale too horrifying put to paper.

Fobia: St. Dinfna Hotel is a first-person psychological survival horror, putting players into a large, grand hotel. In a setup that certainly feels inspired by The Shining, the hotel appears to be a formerly rand and luxurious place until Roberto uncovers a camera that can reveal alternate timelines. Human experiments and grotesque monsters twist reality itself as Roberto finds himself in the past, present, and future at any one given time. It is the battle of the mind, as well as a battle of survival, as Roberto solves puzzles, gathers resources, and must decide between hiding and fighting. Roberto can secure weapons and shoot his way out of a situation, but ammo is scarce and stealth may be a better choice. In a reality that has been undone, Roberto must write his own story and his own way out.

Fobia: St. Dinfna Hotel finds itself in a unique place as there haven’t been any horror games on the radar as of late. In fact, the only other horror-themed game that Fobia: St. Dinfna Hotel is competing with is the interactive movie, The Quarry. Many other ambitious horror titles, such as The Callisto Protocol aren’t arriving until later in 2022, or 2023, making Fobia: St. Dinfna Hotel perhaps the only high-profile horror game release at the moment, sans any smaller horror game that I haven’t heard of as of this posting, including ones on itch.io. Based on the trailer, Fobia: St. Dinfna Hotel is shaping to be a very good mid-summer engagement.

Fobia: St. Dinfna Hotel is now available on PlayStation 4/5, Xbox Series X/S, and Steam. A free demo is available on steam for those that wish to try it out.
