Today at 3 PM ET, The jury for the Depp-Heard delivered their verdict in favor of the Pirates of the Caribbean actor in the amount of 15 million dollars. In addition, Heard won 2 million as a result of her counterclaim. Depp was not present at the verdict due to work commitments.
This verdict marks a culmination of sorts for the Star. After six years of slander and… well, hearsay (you’re welcome) Depp has finally gotten his side of the story out there. What had been mostly under the radar for the last several years came to the forefront as fans tuned in to hear every last detail from Depp’s traumatic childhood to his tumultuous relationship with Heard. From the start of this trial, it seemed that Depp had the upper hand as Heard’s team continually bungled every attempt at trying to make heard seem sympathetic (attempts that Heard herself had compounded with what amounted to flimsy testimony). With the trial finally behind him, the sky’s the limit for Depp. In recent weeks he’d been rumored for roles in both the long development sequels Beetlejuice 2 and Robert Downey Jr.’s Sherlock Holmes 3 where he was rumored to play a version of Arcene Lupin several years ago.
In addition, during a recent interview for Top Gun Maverick, producer Jerry Bruckheimer stated that no decisions have been made about the inclusion of Jack Sparrow in future installments of the Pirates franchise so perhaps the door is still open for Depp to return despite his justifiable refusal to return to the iconic role during his testimony. Regardless, I can’t wait to see what Depp does next. Here’s to many more years of iconic Performances!
