Apex Legends: Hunted Trailer and Updates

Hawkeyed fans of Apex Legends‘ Instagram feed will have noticed that Season 14, titled “Hunted”, has a scheduled release date of August 9. Hawkeyed fans of the game’s YouTube, however, will have noticed that Apex Legends planned two exciting trailers for us. The first was released on July 25 showing us the latest entry in their “Stories from the Outlands”, and another on July 28 showing us the Season 14 launch trailer.

Check out the two trailers below, as well as some released information about the changes we can expect in Season 14!

The Stories from the Outlands: Survive trailer introduces us to a new hunter named Mara, alias Vantage, the newest legend to join the existing roster. Vantage, who seems to have a tough life being raised on the barren planet of Pagos, explores an empty cargo ship helmed by computers. Soon, she is mistaken to be her mother, Xenia Contreras, who is actually prisoner T-0323 and had been sentenced to life aboard the Gaean Detention Ship. The trailer goes on to show Vantage and her sidekick albino bat trying to escape the detention ship. After falling into an icy cavern, Mara’s mother does the only thing an escaped convict mother desperate to save her daughter can do: she turns on a distress signal, signaling authorities to their location. Will Xenia ever reunite with her daughter? Only time will tell!

Apex Legends: Hunted (Season 14) Launch Trailer

The Apex Legends: Hunted trailer for season 14 starts us off with Vantage, alternating between participating in the games with Fuse and Horizon, then back to her mother, Xenia, being escorted away by guards. Though her mother doesn’t blame her, it’s clear Vantage feels responsible for her mother’s re-imprisonment and vows to help her get out again before winning her first ever games.

Vantage’s Abilities

Vantage’s abilities are revealed in the trailer, though leaks of her abilities have been available online for quite some time.

Passive – Sniper Kit

According to leaks, and as reported by Dot Esports, Vantage will likely have the ability to use a targeting system to gather intel about enemy squads including the size of the squad, shield tier, and even the distance of the squad. When armed, she will have access to a long-range scope. As we’d expect with a recon class, Vantage will also be able to use beacons to identify where the next ring is.

Tactical – Echo Launch

Echo, the cute pet bat that follows Vantage around, will provide a tactical advantage to our new legend by acting as a launch beacon. Once Echo has been positioned, Vantage – with the assistance of rockets – can relocate to Echo’s position. This ability is shown in the trailer along side her other abilities.

Ultimate – Marked to Kill

Also shown in the trailer is a sneak peak into Vantage’s ultimate ability. Rumor has it, Vantage can mark enemies with a sniper rifle, which then causes those enemies to appear in the same way Bloodhound’s scan can identify enemy targets. Your squad can then target those enemy legends and receive a 15% damage boost. According to Dot Esports, Vantage’s sniper deals 20 damage and receives a 20% boost from consecutive shots.

Season 14: Hunted – Expected Changes
Map Redesign

In addition to a new legends, players can also expect to see a newly redesigned Kings Canyon map. Respawn teases us by asking: “What will rise from the ashes of the past?” Will we have to wait until August 9 to see more or will Respawn give us another early taste? Only time will tell…

Level Cap Increase

Long-time fans of Apex Legends have probably already capped out their level to 500, so you’ll be happy to learn that players will have a new level cap of 700 when Season 14 rolls out.

Battle Pass

As always, there will be a Battle Pass available in-game. No official details have been released by Respawn yet, but we will have them for you as soon as possible! If past Battle Passes are any indication, you should expect the usual 110 tier battle pass with both a free and premium track, complete with rewards such as Legendary skins, reactive weapon skins, Apex Coins, and more!
