Over the last three years, the fate of E3 has been in question. In the last decade, E3 has seen its fair share of controversy; between opening the event to the public, doxing press members and guests, Sony pulling out, and the Dr. Disrespect controversy, many have lost faith in the Entertainment Software Association (ESA). Because of this, it was rumored that different exhibitors would pull out of the event if the ESA were to continue running it. Additionally, the ESA’s contract with the Los Angeles Convention Center was nearing its end. Today, E3 2023 will have a new organizer running the event.
Today first announced on GamesIndustry.biz, a ReedPop-owned site, announced that ReedPop will work in collaboration with the ESA to organize E3 2023. E3 2023 will take place at the LA Convention Center during the second week of June. Media registration will open later in the year.
E3 2023 Statements
ESA president and CEO Stanley Pierre-Louis stated:
“We are thrilled to bring back E3 as an in-person event with ReedPop, a global leader in producing pop culture events. The past three years have confirmed that E3 convenes our industry like no other event. ReedPop brings world-class talent and a keen understanding of the video game industry, which will serve to enhance the E3 experience for years to come.”
ReedPop president Lance Fensterman added:
“It is a tremendous honor and privilege for ReedPop to take on the responsibility of bringing E3 back in 2023. With the support and endorsement of the ESA, we’re going to build a world-class event to serve the global gaming industry in new and broader ways than we already do at ReedPop through our portfolio of world-leading events and websites.”
Are you excited for E3 to return? Will ReedPop keep the event public or will they have it at a lesser capacity?
