No Man’s Sky Launches on Friday, October 7th 2022 for Nintendo Switch

It’s been a long time coming for Hello Games, but this coming October is a new frontier for No Man’s Sky. After careful planning and refinement, No Man’s Sky launches for Nintendo Switch, both as a digital release on the Nintendo eShop and as a physical release. This trailer brings a newfound sense of excitement and hype as one of the great redemption stories in video games continues its ascent to new heights.

The release date announcement was complemented by a trailer, showcasing all of the features and visuals that No Man’s Sky will have a t launch. The familiar sights of terrestrial exploration, wildlife interaction, and interstellar dogfighting make their appearance in the trailer. The trailer goes on to remind players that on launch day, 6 years of updates and several massive updates will be included on Day One.  From cross-platform play to fleet management and surface vehicles, there is a large abundance of things to do in No Man’s Sky and for players on the go with the Switch, the feelings of exploration and charting into the unknown are further heightened.

No Man’s Sky was released in the Summer of 2016 and became the most cataclysmic gaming disaster at the time. Released with entire features missing, the game was overwhelmingly negative to players, cratering the studio’s morale and expectations. After a few months, the team rallied and pledged to release free updates for the game, adding a bevy of new features and abilities, from the construction of mechs to the ability to swim. Over the years, the game once having received the infamously dreadful Steam rating of Overwhelmingly Negative steadily and eventually turned around, with a Mostly Positive rating out of over 100,000 user reviews. Currently, it is one of the best space-based offerings in games, with plenty for players to enjoy and a large variety of options for players to choose from.

The numbers speak for themselves how No Man’s Sky is one of the most celebrated Cinderella stories in gaming history. In the six-year since its launch, No Man’s Sky has become both an example of what not to do, as well as what to do. How not to market a game but also how to deliver to the players in a time of pricey DLC expansions, microtransactions, tampering with in-game currency such as the case with Gran Turismo 7, and releasing unfinished games, such as Battlefield 2042. The team at Hello Games has stuck with it through and through and has become living examples of growth, change, and how to rise from a challenge. It’ll be fascinating to see what happens when No Man’s Sky releases for the Nintendo Switch, and how existing players as well as new players, interact with the experience. Based on the trailer, exciting times are ahead for Switch owners this Fall.

No Man’s Sky launches on Nintendo Switch Friday, October 7th, 2022 both digitally and physically.
