Remakes and remasters have become commonplace in the industry. Recent releases such as Resident Evil 3 Remake and Kao The Kangaroo proved the demand for releases of remastered classics. Bandai Namco has followed this trend with the recently announced Pac-Man World Re-PAC; a remaster of the 20+-year-old PlayStation original. Today, the official Pac-Man YouTube channel released a video, directly comparing the remaster to the 1999 classic.
“PAC-MAN WORLD Re-PAC brings back a wonderfully original world of adventure for PAC-MAN, where our hero is now chasing the Ghosts to rescue PAC-MOM, PAC-BOY, PAC-SIS, Professor PAC, PAC-BUDDY, and Pooka from their clutches only to discover a new nemesis in the dreaded TOC-MAN.”
Bandai Namco’s new Pac-Man World Re-PAC trailer reveals side-by-side comparisons of both games’ first two areas. The footage not only shows the massive overhaul in the visual department but also displays what looks to be much more refined and modernized player movement. The camera angle also appear to have been changed, modifying them to be more on par with the later two Pac-Man World releases.
While the trailer mainly focused on comparing the remake to the original release, the end revealed a special edition release. A Chrome Noir Chogokin Bundle is available to pre-order now on exclusively on the Bandai Namco Store. That edition, which bundles the game with the Chrome Chogokin figure, is available for $119.99 USD while supplies last.
The standard edition of Pac-Man World Re-PAC is available to pre-order on Bandai Namco Store, Best Buy, GameStop, Walmart, Target, and Amazon. That version retails for $29.99 USD, and is available both digitally and physically on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X. The game will also be available digitally on Steam.
