The fate of The Flash will soon be decided. According to The Hollywood Reporter, The team at Warner Brothers Discovery is said to be weighing 3 different options for the embattled film given Ezra Miler’s deplorable behavior.
Option 1: Miller accepts help and, after doing an interview about their actions, does a limited press tour for the film.
Option 2: Miller does not accept help, no press and they recast the role down the line (something that has been inevitable for a while now).
Option 3: The film is scrapped entirely, if the situation deteriorates further.
The Flash, stars Miller reprising his role as Barry Allen the Flash, Kiersey Clemons as Iris West, Sasha Calle as Supergirl, Michael Shannon reprising his role as Zod, with Ben Affleck returning as Batman and of course Michael Keaton reprising his role as Batman from Tim Burton’s films after 30 years.
The film has seen a lot of upheaval since its inception in 2014 with everyone from Rick Famuyiwa to Jonathan Goldstein and John Francis Daley. The latter duo left after Miller insisted on writing a new script with comic book icon Grant Morrison which went nowhere.
When IT Filmmaker Andy Muschietti came on board it looked like the scarlet speedster was finally on his way to the big screen. However, ever since an incident at a bar a couple of years ago, Ezra’s continued affiliation with the hero has been something of an open question with many fans urging Warner bros to make a statement as Miller’s actions have increasingly escalated culminating in their recent arrest for armed Burglary.
Erza Problems
While Ezra Miller is a fantastic Flash and even better actor, their behavior is reprehensible and there must be consequences for their actions. I really wanted to see what Calle would do with Supergirl and of course what it would be like to see Keaton and Affleck under the cowl once again, but Miller has become a liability. Hopefully, Warner Brothers Discovery Head David Zaslav and Co. can chart the path forward for The Flash and beyond.
What do you think is Warners Bros’ best option? Is the return of Keaton enough to get you to the theater assuming the film makes it that far?
