When it comes to out-of-the-ordinary games, what are a few games that come to mind? Do games like Fall Guys, My Friendly Neighborhood, Doodle Derby, or MisBits come to mind? When it comes to spontaneous and wacky games that are over the top, one game comes to mind; the game we are referring to is Goat Simulator. Since its release in 2014, Goat Simulator has pushed its over-the-top gameplay onto unsuspecting children, grandmas, and even the mailman. Now, that last part is sarcasm and comedy, but Goat Simulator‘s success on PC led to a variety of DLCs and ports to Xbox, iOS, PlayStation, and Nintendo Switch. Now, Goat Simulator 3 looks to take fans to a new level.
That’s right rockers, you did read that correctly, the next Coffee Stain Studios game is Goat Simulator 3. Who said sequels need to be chronologically ordered? Based on the amount of content released in the last eight years, it is fair to name the next Goat Simulator, Goat Simulator 3. So how is Coffee Stain North’s next game.? Well, at PAX West 2022, we had the opportunity to preview the upcoming game.
Goat Simulator 3 Impressions
As someone who barely played the first Goat Simulator, jumping into Goat Simulator 3 was a wild ride. What seems like a bug can easily be described as a feature. In this demo, we experienced a variety of “features” most of which made the game even more comedic. At one point we collided with an NPC and got launched hundreds of feet into the air. The only actual bad bug we experienced was while driving as the “Tall Goat” in a car and the game crashed. In the first half of the demo, we decided to explore the map and customization options.
The game allows players to change their goat’s model, visuals, and even abilities. For most of our demo, we played as the “Tall Goat” aka the Giraffe. On top height bonus, we equipped devil horns, hover boats, flame jumping effects, and much more. There was nothing more comedic than watching our “Tall Goat” creating its own sunroof. Or, we could take our tall goat and grind on the telephone wires located on the side of the road. If you dream it, you can most likely do it.
Goat Simulator 3 PT 2
In the second part of the demo, we actually attempted to complete some of the game’s side quests. One of the first quests was retrieving an item. This item led us to an old lady who would shoot yarn balls out of a rocket launcher. Once we took out granny, a new mission was unlocked. Little did we know granny was an old-school gamer. Upon defeating grandma, her house opens up unlocking a retro-style Doom/Quake-like game. Watch out Grandma has brought friends and is packing heat. Upon clearing the chamber, we actually unlocked the Granny skin.
With the Granny Skin equipped we went North and discovered a factory. At this factory, it turns out that the assembly line hasn’t been installed despite the scientists wanting to run experiments. So, we decided to help them out. With our magic tongue, we decided to drag the conveyor belts into the lab; in order to accomplish this, we had to maneuver our body in the right direction to get them to squeeze through any obstacles. Once the conveyor belt was in place, the experiments could begin. Welcome banana humans. Wanting to see what would happen if we jumped into the chamber, we did. Welcome, Banana Grandma!
Final Thoughts
As someone who skipped Goat Simulator due to time constraints, Goat Simulator 3 made us want to go back to the original. Any bugs experienced were more comedic than frustrating; that’s why we deemed them more features than bugs. Coffee Stain Studios’ upcoming game looks to continue where its predecessor left off. This is definitely a game to keep an eye out for.
Goat Simulator 3 is scheduled to be released on November 17th, 2022; it is currently scheduled to be released on PC, Xbox Series X|S., and PlayStation 5. Will you pick up this game?
