During the recent Nintendo Direct Showcase, Square Enix announced the next entry to an RPG series that fans all around the world have enjoyed playing and that is Octopath Traveler II which will be released on February 24th, 2023 on Nintendo Switch, PS5, PS4, and PC via Steam.
From watching the Trailer, the game follows the same direction with eight different travelers that have their own stories that will connect them together to embark on an epic quest. This time the story takes place in a new world of Solistia. The world of Solistia looks more different as there are some modern elements that were different from the original game which was a more medieval fantasy world.
What we know about the eight travelers that were announced in the trailer is Hikari, the warrior; Agnes, the dancer; Partitio, the merchant; scholar Osvald; Throné, the thief; Temenos, the cleric; young hunter Ochette, and Castti, the apothecary. Path Actions is something that made Octopath Traveler unique as it gives unique ways to interact with NPCs throughout the world using various actions based on each character. Another returning feature is the Break and Boost Battle system the travelers will have to explore the enemy’s weakness to “break” in order to do more damage while “Boost” helped the travelers enhance their abilities. The gameplay shows there is a day/night cycle feature that has an impact on where you go and you will discover more secrets and more path actions for your character.
Octopath Traveler has a special RPG element the player can choose whichever character they can be picked to start their journey and as you progress into the story of the game all of the characters will meet on the same path that will lead to a story that connects them all. Octopath Traveler is a Role-playing Game that really defines storytelling and character development where each character’s story is like a puzzle to a bigger picture. I enjoy the first Octopath Traveler and I am excited to see what awaits in this one.
OCTOPATH TRAVELER II will be available to pre-order within the next 24 hours in a Standard Digital Edition for PS5, PS4, and PC via STEAM. Standard Digital Edition pre-orders for Nintendo Switch will begin at a later date.
