Marvel Shifts Upcoming Release Dates

Marvel Shifts Upcoming Release Dates

The House of ideas’ forthcoming slate will have to wait. Deadline reports that Marvel’s upcoming MCU films have all been delayed. The news comes on the heels of director Bassam Tariq departing Blade and that film’s subsequent delay which had been revealed apart from the other movies this morning. While a delay was anticipated for the day walkers’ solo MCU debut, everything from Fantastic four to Deadpool 3 has been moved. You can see the list below.

Deadpool 3 has been moved from September 6, 2024 to November8, 2024

Blade has been moved from November 3, 2023 to September 6, 2024

Fantastic has been moved from Four November 8, 2024 to February 14, 2025

Avengers Secret Wars has been moved from November 7, 2025 to May 5, 2026

Additionally, an untitled MCU movie has  been moved from the first family’s new date to Secret Wars old November slot. Marvel has never been shy about the delays in the wake of the pandemic, with IPs such as Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, Thor: Love and Thunder and Spider-Man: No Way Home also being the subject of multiple delays. However, it’s worth noting that this wide of a shuffle hasn’t happened in quite a while and given the divisive nature of phase 4 it’s hard not to look at this news with a jaundiced eye. No reason for the latest release date shuffle has been given, but given recent controversies with effects houses, it stands to reason that getting the effects up to par would be a major factor especially since most of these delays are only a few months difference as as opposed to the infamous delay Gi Joe retaliation experienced mere weeks before release. Hopefully, this will end up being a step in the right direction and fans will have more Marvel action on the big screen in the months ahead.

Are you surprised by all these delays? Do you think this portends more problems for the MCU or is this another effects issue? Let us know in the comments and stay tuned to Marooners Rock for more movie and Video Game news!
