Since 2017 Strictly Limited Games has been providing Nintendo Switch owners with special physical editions of previously digital-only games. Back in 2016 developer HEY and publisher Hanaji Games released Mecha Ritz: Steel Rondo, a vertical scrolling shoot ‘em up that harkens back to the arcade days. In 2020, the two studios collaborated again to produce Dezatopia, which is a horizontal shmup. The two studios, in conjunction with Strictly Limited Games, are releasing both shooters as a combination physical edition, Mecha & Dezatopia.
Two Radically Different Shoot ‘Em Ups In One
Mecha Ritz: Steel Rondo is a vertically scrolling shoot ‘em up set in a dystopian cyberpunk world. This fast-paced high score-based shooter included 14 playable mechas, branching storylines with multiple different endings, and many other unlockables.
Deztopia is a retro arcade-style horizontal shooter that sees high school student Momoko create her new “fashionable” world: Deztopia. She hires classmates Akane and Aoba to assist her with her vision, only for things to fall off the rails. The game’s 24 stages and 21 boss encounters will all automatically adjust their difficulty, based on the player’s skill level, ensuring maximum accessibility.
Standard Limited Edition
The standard edition comes in two variations. One version features Dezatopia themed artwork, and one that features Mecha Ritz: Steel Rondo. Both editions will also include reversible cover artwork featuring both titles. Both of these editions include a physical Switch cartridge and a full-color manual. The Standard Limited Edition is limited to 999 copies.
Special Limited Edition
The Special Limited Edition also comes in two additional variants. These also feature artwork of either Dezatopia or Mecha Ritz, with the reversible combination artwork. Both of these also include the game cartridge and color game manual, but additionally include an 80-page staff book, a two-CD original soundtrack, and a double-sided poster. The Special Limited Edition is limited to only 500 copies.
Both Mecha Ritz and Dezatopia are out now, digitally, on both the Nintendo Switch eShop and on PC via Steam. Pre-orders for the physical edition of Dezatopia & Mecha Ritz officially begin on December 4th and are available exclusively on the StrictlyLimitedGames webstore.
