The tri-state area is at stake once again. Ayo Davis, President of Disney Branded Television, announced today at the TCAs that Dan Povenmire and Jeff Swampy Marsh’s iconic animated series Phineas and Ferb will return to the network for two new seasons totaling 40 episodes. While Povenmire is set to return as part of a new overall deal with Disney, talks are still underway to bring Marsh back into the Fold. There’s no word on whether the show will air on Disney+ or the Disney Channel.
You can read Davis’s Povenmire’s respective statements below:
Dan is renowned for his ability to create universally beloved stories and characters with both heart and humor, We couldn’t be happier to continue our collaboration with him and bring back the iconic ‘Phineas and Ferb’ in a big way. – Ayo Davis
It has been the greatest pleasure of my career to see how an entire generation of kids and parents have embraced the characters and the humor of ‘Phineas and Ferb, I’m eagerly looking forward to diving back into the show for them and for a whole new generation. – Dan Povenmire
First premiering following High School Musical 2, Phineas and Ferb follows the titular characters (voiced by Everybody Hates Chris star Vincent Martella and Game of Thrones Thomas Brodie-Sangster) as they have the summer of lives going on zany adventures while their sister Candace (voiced by HSM’s Ashley Tisdale) tries to ‘bust’ them. Meanwhile, unbeknownst to anyone Phineas’ pet Perry the Platypus is actually a secret agent with the OWCA (Organization Without a Cool Acronym) Every episode involves some scheme with Perry’s nemesis Dr. Doofenshmirtz (voiced by Co-Creator Dan Povenmire)who is constantly trying to take over the tri-state area.
Phineas and Ferb have had multiple comebacks over the years including two television films Phineas and Ferb Across the Second Dimension and Phineas and Ferb the Movie: Candace Against The Universe. While there have been plenty of rumors about a Phineas & Ferb comeback, nothing has been official to now. I’m happy for all the fans and I can’t wait to see what this duo is going to do today.
