When you think of remasters or enhanced editions what do you think of? Prior to yesterday’s announcement, the first three games that came to mind were Dead Space, Resident Evil 4, and The Witcher 3. The Witcher 3 enhancement is credited as a great enhancement to improve the overall game quality; meanwhile, the Dead Space remake did an excellent job capturing the essence of the original while making some quality-of-life improvements. With remakes and enhancements improving the overall experience, a newer title throws its hat into the ring. Fans of Obsidian Entertainment’s The Outer Worlds can look forward to an enhanced edition soon.
Next week, on March 7th, 2023, The Outer Worlds: Spacer’s Choice Edition will be available on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and PC. The Outer Worlds: Spacer’s Choice Edition features, “higher resolution graphics, a dynamic weather system, overhauled lighting and environments, improved performance and load times, enhanced details on characters, an increased level cap, and more.”
The Outer Worlds: Spacer’s Choice Edition includes the original base game and the Murder on Eridanos and Peril on Gorgon DLCS; the Choice Edition will cost $59.99 on Xbox Series X, PlayStation 5, and PC, but those who already have it on PlayStation 4, PC, or Xbox One can upgrade for $9.99.
Game Changes
For those wondering what the changes entail. The Outer Worlds: Spacer’s Choice Edition will run at 4K at FPS if possible. The companion AI will work more efficiently. PS5 players will notice haptic feedback and adaptive triggers when playing. The level cap has been raised to 99 from 36. Supposedly, the only downside is that save transfers will not transfer over so it will be a fresh start.
What do you think of The Outer Worlds: Spacer’s Choice Edition announcement? Will you dive back into the game or try it out for the first time?
