There’s always chaos in the cosmos. Epic Interactive Story has announced an ambitious new auto-battler with a focus on space and Sentai, Rift Rangers. This cosmic new auto battler has spent the past few months in Early Access and is now set to take on the world at the end of the month when it launches on Steam on May 24th.
Go Rangers Go
Rift Rangers is an auto-battling game very much in the vein of Vampire Survivors. Players 20 minutes against an onslaught of vicious alien enemies, all determined to bring you down. The catch is this is space and anything is possible through science and technology. Using advanced technologies and powers, players can survive to face the ultimate evil: The Master Brain. The Master Brain will send one of its champions to punish and destroy.
Players can play with up to three additional Sentai heroes. Each hero has access to RiftTech. Every enemy slain leads to xp and xp leads to upgrades. Choosing upgrades wisely is essential to survival, as wella s teamwork when facing the alien hordes. Death is likely but not the end. Crystals collected during each round can be used to make permeant upgrades to characters to make them more robust for the next run.
Vampire Survivors certainly invented something different when it was released in 2022. It’s game with a hook and simple premise that only requires simple input from the player. It’s been interesting to see other games take inspiration, such as Extremely Powerful Capybaras. Rift Rangers definitely looks to fill a void in the ever-growing auto-battler genre. We’ll see how players take to it when it launches in a few weeks.
