Two Western Digital Xbox Expansion Cards Potentially Leaked

Western Digital Xbox Expansion Cards

When it comes to storage on the Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S, both devices are abysmal. If you had stated that a device would have a terabyte of storage space when the Xbox 360 was out, gamers would be excited; during that time, 1TB could hold most of your games and DLC without ever having to make space. Now, one terabyte (1TB) of space can only hold at best six of the top games. If you like to play Call of Duty, Grand Theft Auto 5, and/or Red Dead Redemption 2, then you are most likely hurting for space. Well, if you are an Xbox gamer, you might be in luck, because two new Western Digital Xbox expansion cards are supposedly on their way.

At the moment, the Xbox expansion market is currently controlled by Seagate; if you want a Seagate expansion card you will have to pay $90 for 512 GBs, $150 for 1TBs, or $280 for 2 TBs. When you compare those prices to the current market for external hard drives, those prices seem a bit outrageous. In fact, you can get a 14 TB external hard drive for $259; that’s over twenty dollars cheaper and gives you seven times (7X) the space. Well, there might be a slightly cheaper option just around the corner.

Western Digitial Expansion Card Rumor

According to Twitter user @almadweb and verified by @billbil_kun, Westen Digital is set to enter the Xbox Expansion market with two different size expansion cards. According to the rumor, the 512GB version will retail for $79.99, and the 1TB version for $149.99. At the moment, it is expected to be revealed during the Xbox Showcase on June 11th, 2023. According to the rumor, both versions of the expansion card will include one free month of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate.

Are you in the market for an expansion card? If announced will you pick up the Western Digital Xbox expansion cards or stick with an external hard drive? Let us know.
