It’s a blast from the past. Publisher Microids has announced a release date for UFO Robot Grendizer – The Feast of the Wolves. This action-packed adventure features one of the very first mecha-based anime characters, Grendizer, and puts players right into the pilot’s seat against an extraterrestrial threat. The news was announced by Microids with information from games press PR. UFO Robot Grendizer – The Feast of the Wolves follows the first arc of Go Nagai’s manga UFO Robot Grendizer. Players embark on a mission to fight and defeat the evil machinations of King Vega’s forces. Hailing from a faraway world, Grendizer is a highly advanced robot that interfaces with a spaceship to allow for powerful combat capabilities. King Vega wants that machine, and Earth, sending legions of dangerous robots to the surface. Using the power of Grendizer, players unleash a volley of might and firepower on a mission of danger and conspiracy.
UFO Robot Grendizer – The Feast of the Wolves will have special editions at launch. This includes a Deluxe Edition and Collector’s Edition. While the pricing isn’t available as of this post, each edition comes with multiple extras. The Collector’s edition, in particular, comes with a Steelbook, lithograph, posters, and other extras. A physical release was not mentioned at the time of posting.

As an anime enthusiast, the release of UFO Robot Grendizer – The Feast of the Wolves is met with great appreciation. Anime like UFO Robot Grendizer were instrumental in spearheading the medium here in the United States. The late 70s anime would give way for shows like Robotech, Speed Racer, Transformers, and other shows. The designs may appear more flamboyant than other mech-based anime, and be more akin to the Zords in Power Rangers. However, these designs and the scale of the action blazed a trail that still burns today. UFO Robot Grendizer – The Feast of the Wolves looks promising and hopefully, sets a trend to get more anime games based on older anime. We should have had a Sailor Moon-themed game by now.
UFO Robot Grendizer – The Feast of the Wolves launches November 14th, 2023 for PC, Xbox, and PlayStation. A Nintendo Switch port arrives in 2024.
