For years now, I’ve put many hours into the game Armello with friends, and at times we play it all while catching up on everyday life. The team at League of Geeks created a solid board game on PC that will keep one and all guessing what your friends will do next. Attendees of PAX Australia will be able to get a sneak peek of the game from October 6-8, 2023.
Personally, I’m a bit jealous as I type this as I’d be at the booth playing alone if a prototype was set up to play. Australian publisher King of the Castle, in partnership with Quillsilver Studio and Fire Opal Media, has announced that they will bring the critically acclaimed video game Armello to the tabletop. Yes, you read that right fans of League of Geeks game Armello. You will be getting a tabletop adaption of the game. The Armello: The Board Game will launch on Kickstarter in Q1 2024, offering fans the chance to experience the game in a whole new way.
Originally published as a video game by League of Geeks in 2015, Armello has garnered critical and commercial acclaim, earning praise as “one of the best virtual board game experiences available” by GameSpot. However, from me personally, it’s a game you shouldn’t pass up on if you live video games and board games. Designed by Ron Heinsoo, known for designing the 4th Edition of Dungeons & Dragons, brings the same colorful world and compelling characters to life on the tabletop.
“Armello was a landmark in digital board games when it was released in 2015, so the decision to port it back to the tabletop was a natural one,” said Andre Bishop, director of King of the Castle. “With Armello: The Board Game, we’re thrilled to invite both longtime fans and newcomers to experience the magic and deep strategy that Armello has to offer.”
