The first trailer for the third installment of Deadpool movie series has been released, which showcases Ryan Reynolds reprising his role as Deadpool, Morena Baccarin as Firefly fan favorite, and the return of Hugh Jackman as Wolverine. The upcoming movie, titled Deadpool and Wolverine, is directed by Shawn Levy and written by Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick. Fans of the franchise can expect a thrilling and entertaining experience.
The trailer finds Wade Wilson enjoying his birthday when he gets a knock on the door from the Time Variance Authority (TVA). After a jab at Disney’s expense, which I’m impressed they let them get away with, Deadpool is taken to the TVA and introduced him to the wider MCU courtesy of Succession star Matthew Macfadyen in his MCU debut. Promising that the cinematic universe is about to change forever, he fights with the TVA, during which we get a glimpse of what appears to be the decaying 20th-century Fox logo. Then comes the moment nearly seven years in the making. As Deadpool is recovering from an attack, we see a silhouette hovering over him. As our hero demands that ‘the big ape’ help him up, there is a familiar snikt as Wolverine seemingly prepares to attack Wade.
The trailer of Deadpool and Wolverine did an excellent job at presenting the film’s premise without giving away too much, particularly about the Canadian superhero. It’s great that we didn’t get to see much of Logan in the trailer, as it would have taken away from the unique return of Jackman and Wolverine. The makers of the film seem to be treating it with the respect it deserves, by not spoiling the fun for those who avoided leaks. I’m eagerly looking forward to seeing more in the coming months.
