The Total War series has always been a series that has been on my radar, appealing to my interest in games like Civilization, Age of Empires, and Warcraft. Though still very much about war, it seemed like they were on a smaller scale in terms of the world, but a bigger scale when it came to the battles. This approach seemed to allow for being able to dig deeper into the conflict, resulting in a mu...[Read More]
Cappy has captured our hearts and Super Mario Odyssey has proven to be a show stopper at PAX West! With Super Mario Odyssey being one of the most highly anticipated games of 2017, it’s no secret that I was dying to get my hands on it at PAX West. I don’t think there was any other game on the show floor that I was more looking forward to or more excited to play than Super Mario Odyssey. Because of ...[Read More]
For the past few years, Monster Hunter fans have mostly had to make their hunts on the 3DS. They are amazing games and they really push the 3DS to create some of the best titles on the system. I doubt I’m alone in the desire for a new console release of this dinosaur toppling, dragon capturing, weapon crafting grindfest of a franchise. Then Monster Hunter World was announced and it looked like it ...[Read More]
While I missed out on traveling to Seattle for PAX West, I did get an awesome gesture by being given access to the King of Cards demo that was being played there. It’s the pleasure of the newest experiences in gaming from the comfort of my home!
In booking my appointments and looking at everything PAX West was going to offer, there was one title that stood out to me from the beginning. As soon as I watched the trailer for Where the Water Tastes Like Wine, I knew it was going to be something special. It had this folk-lore feeling about it, featured some great music, and had an appealing rustic art style. I had to play it.
As stated in other reviews and articles I’ve written, I’m a big fan of the classic dungeon crawler RPGs. Games like Baldur’s Gate, Ice Wind Dale, Diablo, and plenty of others are just a few of my favorites. That feeling of running through adventures and stories; it genuinely feels like the developers had taken some of my favorite fantasy novels and brought them to life. Epic story, adventure, and ...[Read More]
First impressions are everything, especially in a huge RPG. So far I have sunk about 8 hours into Destiny 2 and in that time the game has made quite the impression. During the first several hours, Destiny 2 has managed to convince me that Bungie really did listen to their fans’ feedback. I couldn’t tell you any sort of narrative moment within the first Destiny, and quite honestly I pre...[Read More]
Earlier this week, the beta for the highly anticipated Destiny 2 was released. There is definitely much excitement to be had with this upcoming sequel as the original Destiny’s player base has grown tremendously since it’s initial release. I for one have been very optimistic for Destiny 2, and now that I have gotten some good time in with the beta, here are my impressions.
For months, the world has speculated what might be in store next for Life is Strange and residents of Arcadia Bay. At E3 2017, Square Enix and Deck Nine Games confirmed that they had indeed been working on a new Life is Strange title and that it would be releasing later this year. Life is Strange: Before the Storm takes place before the events of the first game and will be releasing on August 31st...[Read More]
Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle may be one of the biggest surprises in video games this year. Who would have ever thought that we would be seeing Ubisoft and Nintendo work together to create a game that just screams XCOM. Well, my friends, Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle is real and it is a ton of fun.
I’ve played a ton of video games in my life, so it can take a lot for a game or mechanic to impress me. The freedom and movement and progression in Crackdown is one of the lucky bunch that has stuck with me since I first played it back in 2007 on the Xbox 360. I loved collecting orbs and seeing the progression along my path of destruction. So, when it was announced that Crackdown 3 would be ...[Read More]
Seven: Days Long Gone was a bit of a surprise to me when I got the chance to see it back at E3. When I was told it was an isometric open world RPG, I was a slightly skeptical as isometric open world doesn’t seem ideal. Luckily, I was proven wrong once I got to see what exactly developers IMGN.PRO were actually trying to achieve. Now what I ended up seeing was still part of the pre-beta, so we stil...[Read More]
