Flashbulb Games has announced that their game, Trailmakers, will be arriving on Steam Early Access on January 31st. The open world vehicle driving/constructing game is the studio’s first title, and is expected to be in Early Access for approximately a year.
When I last had a hands-on with Lightspeed Frontier, it was on the crowded show floor of PAX South, where I managed to (mostly) successfully navigate my way through the tutorial under the helpful tutelage of members of the dev team. However, with the game now launched in Steam Early Access, I’m free to spend a lot more time with this open universe/starship builder hybrid.
Readers may remember our hands-on coverage of Lightspeed Frontier from the PAX South show floor at the end of January. What we saw was a promising game of open world space exploration with a unique twist on shipbuilding, and the promise of a variety of single player missions.
I might have overdone the walking on Day One of the show. Putting eight and a half miles on my Reeboks while trying to recover from a plantar fasciitis injury suffered while running last fall was probably not one of my better ideas. Don’t feel too badly for me though, for I am still at PAX, and Day Two was still filled with some amazing highlights.
The space flight genre has experienced something of a renaissance in the past couple of years. At PAX South, one of the exciting new games on exhibit was Lightspeed Frontier from Riveted Games.
