Arcane Legends Gets Pirate Adventure and Update

For quite sometime I’ve been playing the Android based game Arcane Legends on my cell phone. I can state right now if you’re looking for a free mobile MMORPG, then it’s worth checking out.  You can also play this game on Google Chrome, which is a huge plus and it’s just as fun. Today some new features hit the game and we’ve provided a list below.

Perfect World’s Free-To-Play MMO Neverwinter Introducing “Founder’s Packs”

First, the trend was free-to-play with paywalled content and performance modifying microtransactions. For the most part, that didn’t go over so well, so a transition was made to a fully playable game with cosmetic microtransactions. The subscription model of MMOs is disappearing, and with the rise of free-to-play, we have seen new modes of monetization. The most recent method is the Founder&...[Read More]

Arcane Legends Out Now on Google Play/Chrome Store

Lately I’ve been glued to Halo 4 and another game that I may be playing right now. What’s this other game, you ask? It’s the now released MMORPG Arcane Legends that you can play via your mobile phone or on your Chrome browser. How do you find it? Just search Arcane Legends and you’re all set once you download. I’ll be honest that I’ve never been glued to a MMORP...[Read More]

Jet Li to Promote Age of Wushu

I’m not the biggest MMO fan, so it takes quite a bit to get me to play a game in that genre. A bit ago, I was introduced to one of the more recent MMOs to hit the market, Age of Wushu. Age of Wushu is a new 3D MMORPG centered around martial arts and magic. Some of the recent announcements made during E3 have managed to pique my interest even more.

Bethesda Announces The Elder Scrolls MMO

I’m not entirely sure how I feel about The Elder Scrolls in MMORPG form. My experience with the series, while they only go so far back as some Morrowind and Oblivion with a large serving of Skyrim, has been decidedly solitary. Now, that private, unique world-shaping experience will be opened, and control over your own personal Tamriel is potentially lost. Game Informer has the exclusive cove...[Read More]

MMO’s Tavern – Maybe I’m getting old…

Sorry, no news this week just me ranting.  So if you come here for the news and not my writing style now is the time to turn around. Now that it’s just us, why don’t you grab a seat up here at the bar and I’ll pour you all some free drinks while I tell you about the way things used to be.  More likely I’ll just complain about whipper-snappers and how they pollute my fictional game worlds.

Review: The Old Republic: Revan

The Old Republic:  Revan, by Drew Karpyshyn, was one of the most highly anticipated Star Wars novels of the year.  It came out just in time (on my birthday, in fact) to create hype for The Old Republic, an MMORPG set to be released on December 20 of this year.  Revan, although a great read, failed to meet my expectations and, sadly, was a disappointment.

The Lord of the Rings Online: Rise of Isengard Screens Released

Turbine Inc. recently released a few new screenshots from The Lord of the Rings Online‘s newest content expansion–The Rise of Isengard–that is slated to take the Hobbits to Isengard September 27.

E3 2011: TERA

If you’re a longtime reader of Marooners’ Rock, you know that I’m not a fan of MMOs. If this is your first time reading Marooners’ Rock, hello. My name is Lindsey and I am anti-MMO. Now, I’m sure that, based on this current admission, you’re wondering why I am writing an article about an upcoming MMO. The answer is simple: TERA kicks ass.

Hands On With Dragon Nest and Vindictus

Nexon likes making MMOs. But they don’t like making MMOs that seem like the same old been there done that type of MMO. Yes, you are in a fantasy setting and yes, you are a person in shiny armor that hits goblins and dragons with big sharp swords and things. But trust me, the games, and to specify the games let me use the words Dragon Nest and Vindictus, feel different. Oh, they’re also...[Read More]

EverQuest II: Destiny of Velious Roundtable Discussion

Last week, I had the chance to sit in a roundtable discussion with Sony Online Entertainment’s Senior Producer, David Georgeson, and members of other gaming websites. The session, which lasted about an hour long, was not only a ton of fun but gave me a new appreciation for the MMO genre. Georgeson, who boasts an impressive resume, has been working in the industry for over two decades, having...[Read More]

WoW Makes Me Say “WOW!”
