For the most part, a lot of fans may have experienced Transformers through probably the worst way possible – Michael Bay’s quartet of over-produced, under-written CGI-laden adventures. But, of course, true fans know that the experience began in the 80’s with the animated series, as well as the animated film that made its way into cineplexes in 1986. It didn’t generate millions of...[Read More]
Ah, the 80’s – a time when a guy could control a small town with a number of thugs and a whole lot of persuasion. No, I’m not talking about Donald Trump, I’m talking about Brad Wesley (Ben Gazzara), a ne’er-do-well that has no trouble ruling a small Missouri city with an iron fist. Little does he know, however, that Swayze’s James Dalton just strolled into town…
Watching Midnight Run, you realize that it’s definitely a different movie for its time, with Robert DeNiro’s bounty hunting character consistently using payphones and asking for wire transfers, and eventually settling getting his acquired accomplice across various states through old-school transportation. But that’s the beauty part about a good 80’s comedy like this – times...[Read More]

Translating a video game to film can be a tricky business. Sometimes you get something as glorious as Mortal Kombat (and yes, it was great) – and sometimes you get Mortal Kombat Annihilation. Fortunately, the team at Sony, working alongside Rovio Animation, have done a suitable job at giving the Angry Birds – yes, the ones from the mobile line of games – their own shot in a feature film. It’...[Read More]
There’s nothing like an 80’s guilty pleasure to put you back into ease of mind. And I don’t mean just the classics like Gremlins and The Goonies either. I mean some of the ignored favorites as well, like Howard the Duck (okay, it’s bad, but in a good way) and Ice Pirates (ditto…super ditto).

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice definitely left a mixed feeling over the comic book universe. Part of the audience couldn’t get enough of it, while others felt a bit cheated, considering the movie could’ve been so much more. Me? I thought it was okay, but it was clear that DC Comics’ cinematic universe had a long way to go when it came to catching up to Marvel. We’re tal...[Read More]
What would it be like to assemble a team of the world's most dangerous, incarcerated Super Villains, provide them with the most powerful arsenal at the government's disposal, and send them off on a mission to defeat an enigmatic, insuperable entity. This is what you get with Suicide Squad!
The Bourne trilogy really ended on the right foot with me. By the time The Bourne Ultimatum rolled around, it was just time to give the character some closure and move on to the next action thing. However, Universal didn’t think so, and tried (and failed) to reboot the franchise with The Bourne Legacy, only with Jeremy Renner poorly trying to take over for Matt Damon.
