This would have gone up yesterday, for three consecutive days of Anarchy Reigns releases, but I was in the middle of a FIGHT FOR MY LIFE (disclaimer: “FIGHT FOR MY LIFE” is not intended to reflect any actual fight, be it as serious as a fight for survival or as lighthearted as a fight over Chinese or Japanese for dinner). This marks the eleventh character reveal from SEGA for Platinum ...[Read More]
With a new character reveal yesterday being swiftly followed by a new character reveal today, one could start hoping that we’re on a new streak of character reveals for Platinum Games’ cyborg-laden button masher, Anarchy Reigns! Today’s character reveal, the tenth so far, introduces us to Garuda.
What’s a two and a half month character bio gap between friends? It’s been a while since we’ve seen any character reveals from SEGA for Platinum Games’ upcoming multiplayer brawler, Anarchy Reigns, but the time has come for the ninth character to see the light of day: Durga. I think I can safely say that this will not be my character of choice. Durga is, not surprisingly, y...[Read More]
I’ve been geeking out about Anarchy Reigns since January. January is, coincidentally, when the fifth Platinum Games title was announced. So far, everything that’s come out of Platinum Games has been pure gold…or platinum (hurr hurr hurr). After what we saw at E3, does Anarchy Reigns live up to that Platinum legacy? Let me give you three words to answer that: MadWorld Spiritual Su...[Read More]
While last week’s unfortunate news of Anarchy Reigns being delayed from Fall 2011 to early 2012 has put a bit of a damper on my spirits, SEGA knows just how to pull me out of my funk. Today, they’ve put out the eighth character bio for Anarchy Reigns. His name is Leo, and in keeping with the tradition of making video game characters named Leo look animemo (anime/emo, it just popped int...[Read More]
It’s been another month since our last look at Anarchy Reigns, and today SEGA has released the seventh character bio. So far we’ve seen ninja, ice queens, mechanical bulls (with JET HAMMERS.), a super pimp, and more. What new oddity have we received today? Well, while he may not end up being my favorite character to play as (due to the lack of a fragging JET. HAMMER.), he will probably...[Read More]
It’s been a little over a month since our last look at Anarchy Reigns. I had a sinking feeling for part of that time that we wouldn’t be treated to any more characters for this game. Gladly, I was mistaken, as Mathilda makes her triumphant return from MadWorld. The fifth character so far, Mathilda is not a lady you would want to meet in a dark alley on your own. Or with friends. Or at ...[Read More]
Earlier this week SEGA released the first real gameplay trailer for Platinum Games’ upcoming multi-player brawler, Anarchy Reigns. While there were glimpses of gameplay in each of the character bio videos they released last week, this is our first clear look at what we can expect in a real game scenario. Are you excited? Get excited. I’ll wait.
The second episode of Marooners’ Talk is now available for listening and download here on the site, and will soon be available on iTunes. Episode 001, “Feeling Like A Ham and Mustard Shake,” has a couple of inappropriate moments in it, so make sure there are no children present when you listen.
Platinum Games’ first title was the critically well-received, but commercially unsuccessful, Nintendo Wii game “MadWorld.” Featuring an incredibly stylized design, and a level of blood and inventive violence one would not expect to find on the supposedly family-friendly Wii console, MadWorld is an unfortunate story of a great game on the wrong platform. With Anarchy Reigns, some ...[Read More]
Video games can, on occasion, go over the top when it comes to character and weapon design. Sometimes this results in a game that is seen as too campy, or too over the top (what I like to call pulling a Liefeld). When done right, however, you end up with something like Anarchy Reigns’ third character to be detailed by SEGA: Big Bull and his Jet Hammer.
