Missile Command was tasked with defending the planet from a massive barrage of…missiles. Unfortunately, Missile Command failed. The resulting explosion brought about mutations in the local insects. The insects were not happy with their mutations and, led by the fearsome villain CENTIPEDE, they decided to make their previous oppressors (that would be the people who smush bugs) pay for their m...[Read More]
Five and a half years ago, the gates of Oblivion opened and its denizens poured out into Tamriel. Eventually, after dicking around for days, or even weeks in a staggeringly massive open world doing odd jobs, hunting in the forest, and picking random fights with guards, I helped save Tamriel and sealed shut the gates of Oblivion. In November, Skyrim arrives and throws a crap-ton of dragons in your ...[Read More]
Brothers in Arms: Furious 4 is a difficult game to describe. Thom took a shot and described it as Hogan’s Heroes meets Inglourious Basterds. Wait…that wasn’t very difficult at all. That pretty much nails it, actually. It’s gory, violent, and over the top like Inglourious Basters, and it’s fucking funny like Hogan’s Heroes. As a side note, I feel comfortable swea...[Read More]
Just a few months ago, I called the XBLA version of Torchlight the most fun I’d had gaming so far in 2011. Portal 2 dethroned it, and I’m afraid that this fall’s Neverwinter is going to bump it slightly more, but none of this changes the fact that Torchlight will still be one of my top 2011 games. At E3, I was privileged enough to sit down and play through one of the random event...[Read More]
I rarely let Facebook games dominate me in the way they seem to dominate others. Farmville was a passing phase, along with some other social house/city style game. There was a competitive geography game that I quite enjoyed, as well as something else that I can’t quite remember at this exact moment, but as you can tell, these games had such a profound effect on me that I can barely even reme...[Read More]
When Robot Entertainment first unveiled their upcoming action/strategy game, Orcs Must Die!, I misread the title. “Orcs Must Dine!? Oh, God. Please tell me this isn’t just another port of Diner Dash but with a medieval fantasy skin over it!” Not that there’s anything wrong with Diner Dash, of course. Diner Dash’s time management system is a valid gameplay mechanic tha...[Read More]
It’s hard to imagine that almost 12 years have passed since the first Driver was released. I can still vividly recall the levels, the missions, and most importantly, the driving on one of my favorite driving games of all time. I can still picture the underground parking garage where the tutorial section took place. I played so much Driver on my PC, back in the day, that I actually wore out t...[Read More]
Do you remember the ninja named Joe? Joe Musashi kept us entertained in the 80s and 90s as Shinobi. This September, Shinobi returns in the form of Joe’s father, Jiro, to the 3DS. We got a chance to sit down and play the new Shinobi at a press event last week, and it was fun. Difficult, but fun.
During the great console wars of the 16-bit era, I proudly proclaimed myself a Sonic man (or boy, rather, given my age at the time). I sat in front of my Genesis for hours on the classic Sonic games, and even found appreciation in some of the finer modern Sonic games later on down the line. Truth be told, though, the last Sonic game I was excited about was a bit of a disappointment. I’ve kep...[Read More]
One thing I love about the comic conventions these days is how they promote all sorts of upcoming things for our geeky little hearts. So, it was a great treat to get hands-on time with the console versions of the games based on two of this summer’s biggest comic book films.
I feel like such a novice for not knowing that a sequel to Tekken Tag Tournament was being made. I guess with all of the hype over Marvel vs. Capcom 3, Mortal Kombat, and the Street Fighter X Tekken/Tekken X Street Fighter games, things are bound to slip through. I loved Tekken Tag Tournament on PS2, so I’m really looking forward to this.
Today has definitely been a busy day for video game fans, and it seems that the news is going to keep on coming. Four new Bulletstorm screenshots have been released, so, for those of you who are eagerly awaiting this sweet FPS from EA & Epic Games, hopefully this satiates you all until February 22nd, 2011.
