Hover – Revolt of Gamers Surfs through Neon Cities

Inspired by the Dreamcast classic Jet Set Radio, Hover: Revolt of Gamers seeks to fulfill the need to leap through neon worlds with a little bit of against-the-establishment flair. Hover is an open-world parkour title that has players leaping through the air, grinding on walls, and tagging surfaces with spray paint. More details about the game can be found in their gameplay trailer that lists out ...[Read More]

Snake Pass (Nintendo Switch) Review

PAX East had a ton of great games at this year’s event, that much is certain. Standing out in that condensed environment is incredibly difficult, even for larger companies, but a few managed to grab my attention. Snake Pass was one such game that really stood out to me, probably mostly due to me getting to actually play it during my press appointment with Sumo Digital. I only got to play for...[Read More]

Mothergunship Hands-On Impressions from PAX East

When I saw the trailer for Mothergunship, I was immediately reminded of Doom in the best of ways. This is what sparked me to set up a press appointment with the folks at Grip Digital and Terrible Posture Games to try it out. What I discovered was a crazy addictive, over the top, skill-based, rogue-like shooter that deserves way more attention.

Snake Pass – BEING the Snake During a Hands-On Preview at PAX East

A few weeks back, I covered the announcement of Snake Pass coming to Switch. Even then, I could tell that this would be a game right up my alley, so I jumped at the chance for a demo at PAX East. For this demo, I played the Nintendo Switch version using the Joy-Con Grip controller, while others played the other platforms around me. Sitting next to me through the entire demonstration was none other...[Read More]

Sumo Digital’s Snake Pass Let’s Players be a Snake

Back on the N64 and PSOne, there was a trend in the 3D platforming genre. Oftentimes players had to collect all sorts of trinkets in order to progress, with levels having multiple tiers of things to grab while exploring. A great example of this is Banjo Kazooie, a game that can only be progressed by getting so many Jiggies. Spyro the Dragon had elements of this as well, as the last boss battle was...[Read More]

Pixel Heroes: Byte and Magic (Xbox One) Review

With Pixel Heroes: Byte & Magic, developer Bitfather turns back the clock and delivers a very old-school RPG. If the pixel graphics and 8-bit inspired soundtrack aren’t enough to sell you on that point, they even go so far as to render the game in the 4:3 aspect ratio of old CRT monitors and TV’s, with a plain grey background filling in the rest of the screen.

Uncanny Valley Review

It’s no secret that I love horror. Movies, games, TV shows, all of it. I have played every Silent Hill game, every Resident Evil game, and everything else that has come and gone. In this modern age of third person and first person horror games we have been given an amazing gift in Uncanny Valley by the Cowardly Creations development team.

Hive Jump by Graphite Labs is Out Now on Steam

A while back, I was writing for a much smaller indie magazine known as Giga Geek Magazine. It was my first time publishing any sort of writing on video games, even though I had made plenty of opinion-based videos on Youtube prior to joining the magazine. Oddly enough, it wasn’t long before we started seeing indie game developers reach out to us. I quickly learned how to use Twitter out of sh...[Read More]

Nefarious Lets Players be the Bad Guy

A while back I caught an interesting project on Kickstarter, one that had players adopting the mantle of a snarky villain in a retro-inspired world. Nefarious is that project, a game that uses classics like Mega Man for inspiration, but turns things on its head with the fact that players will become the final boss of the level. Players will become Crow, steal the princess, and then stop the heroes...[Read More]
