When it comes to the almost annual Assassin’s Creed franchise, I’ve always reserved my excitement. I thought the first game was a phenomenal idea and I even enjoyed Assassin’s Creed 2. However, I lost touch with these games shortly after trying out Brotherhood, finding most of them to be the same song and dance. For many players, this was the case as well. Ubisoft also lost a bun...[Read More]

Even though the Switch is starting to get its bearings, Atlus won’t let the 3DS go just yet as they’ve officially announced three games on the way. All three are role-playing games, each with their signature Atuls style. Plus this is th...[Read More]

Dragon Quest, one of the most popular RPGs in Japan, is a series that has remarkably kept its legacy strong since its inception on the Famicom back in 1985, sporting the artwork of the amazing Akira Toriyama, as well as adapting D&D into a video game. Dungeon crawlers are downright abundant on the PSVita, probably more so than any other console of today or yesterday. Even at the international level, which is weird considering how these games mostly have been successful in the hands of Japanese players, but these games have caught on over the years. Most of the dungeon crawlers utilize that telltale first-person exploration, slowly uncovering ma...[Read More]

With Pixel Heroes: Byte & Magic, developer Bitfather turns back the clock and delivers a very old-school RPG. If the pixel graphics and 8-bit inspired soundtrack aren’t enough to sell you on that point, they even go so far as to render the game in the 4:3 aspect ratio of old CRT monitors and TV’s, with a plain grey background filling in the rest of the screen.
Before we get into this review, I’ll confess that I have never gotten into the Fate anime or manga. So I went into this game having no pre-existing knowledge of the lore or story. Luckily, I was able to pick up on the basic premise of this ongoing series from the start, as the game did a pretty good job of explaining what exactly was going on in this world. I will be honest and say it is int...[Read More]

There has been a pretty large void in the gaming industry that used to dominate the market. Back in the days of the N64, PSOne, and even into the Gamecube and Xbox era, a lot of the best selling games were platformers or action games starring colorful characters. It seemed like every company was represented by some sort of cutesy character in an effort to capture what Nintendo had started on the N...[Read More]
