Nintendo of America has announced their eShop discounts for the upcoming holiday season. Featuring discounts of up to 75% of a variety of games for the Switch, WiiU, and 3DS, there’s almost certainly a title or two for the Nintendo gamer in every family.

Skyrim (Nintendo Switch) Review

Skyrim may very well be the game we send aliens to express who we are as a species. Players can’t seem to get enough of this game. It’s been ported to just about every console and will probably get ported to refrigerators or some other ridiculous appliance. What’s not ridiculous though is a Switch port.

SEGA Announces Valkyria Chronicles 4 and a North America Release!

Apparently, SEGA believes in Thanksgiving gifts, or very early Christmas presents, because they gave gamers one today with the surprise announcement of Valkyria Chronicles 4 for a North America and European release! Ten years since the original Valkyria Chronicles hit the PS3, a new chapter of the main storyline is coming to consoles!

Earth Atlantis (Nintendo Switch) Review

The Switch is such a phenomenal platform for indie games right now. Over 7.63 million units have been reported to have been sold, making it one of the fastest growing consumer bases in the gaming world. This coming off the failure of the Wii U and the millions of Vita players that continues to show the viability of the handheld market, has created a perfect storm for Nintendo’s hybrid consol...[Read More]

Earth Atlantis on Switch gets Much Needed Patch

Getting this headline brings a big smile to my face. I’ve actually been playing Earth Atlantis for the past week or so with the intent to review the game here on Marooners’ Rock. However, there were some glaring design flaws that halted my progress, and while I was completely ready to shred the game in that review, I could see some minor adjustments that could make it tons better.

Forma.8 (Switch) Review – Conflicting Design

Independent developers have been turning to the Metroidvania genre for quite a while now, to the the point that it’s become a bit of a trope. Some developers can take the genre and explore new things, or pull off the basics really well, to create some of the best games around. Games like Axiom Verge or Dead Cells do this wonderfully. While Nintendo consoles are certainly the origins of the genre, ...[Read More]

Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle (Switch) Review

Back when the leaks started circulating from Laura Kate Dale, I laughed out loud at the absolute insanity of the idea, and yet here I am with the game in my hands and I couldn’t be more surprised. Rabbids, the aggravating little bunnies that arguably ruined the Rayman name on the Wii, so much so that the Rabbids franchise no longer touts the Rayman branding at all. Add in cartoons that felt ...[Read More]

Phantom Trigger (Switch) Review

A while back I played a preview of Phantom Trigger, which was developed by Bread Team and published by Tiny Build. During that preview, I came away pretty intrigued at the general premise of the story, but I wasn’t enthralled with the combat. Now the game has launched on PC and Switch and has been available for the past couple weeks. Usually, I would have had this review done a while back, f...[Read More]

Slime-san Review (Nintendo Switch)

Slime-san, from developer Fabraz, is something truly special. While at first glance it looks like a Super Meat Boy clone or something of the sort, this game has so much charm, personality, and challenge that it sets itself apart and I couldn’t put it down. It is a game that rewards continuous play and forces players to learn the rules of the world or have no hope of survival. Each death, exc...[Read More]

Ojo Switch Projector Dock is Genius

This is where I want to see the Switch thrive. Sure, having awesome games is a must and we still really need that Virtual Console, but there are few things more awesome than the accessory possibilities for the system. Yesojo, a Chinese company based out of Shenzhen, is working on what’s called the Ojo Projector. This magical dock will allow Switch players to project their gameplay to just ab...[Read More]

Retro City Rampage DX Hits Switch

The Switch is quickly becoming one of my favorite ways to enjoy retro-inspired games, especially if Neo-Geo games are a favorite. Switch players may have just received another reason to load up the E-Shop, as Retro City Rampage DX is now available.
