I’m not really the greatest Pokémon fan out there. That’s not to say I don’t find the games entertaining when I need to review them – Pokémon X and Y were shining examples in the series – but I always look for something more when it comes to the in-game combat. That may explain, then, why I’m so excited for something like Pokken Tournament.
Much in the vein of Bandai Namco's famous Tekken series, Pokkén Tournament pits 16 Pokémon against each other in 1 vs. 1 battles in a fight for supremacy. From Pikachu and Charizard to Lucario and Suicune, there is a vast variety of Pokémon to choose from. In addition to having over 30 non-playable support type Pokémon to help you when you need it most, this game allows even the most advanced Poké...[Read More]
For a few days now I’ve put in a lot of time on the upcoming release Pokkén Tournament for the Wii U. This ranges from online battles, friends coming over to play as well as Erin joining me in local multiplayer battles. While I’d go on with a nice introduction in most of my content I’ll be getting straight to the point with this hands-on preview. Now enough of my intro babbling a...[Read More]
It’s kind of weird when you see a remake of a remake of a game. After all, The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess was originally supposed to come out for the GameCube, only to be delayed for a year and also see a bigger configuration on the Wii, with motion controls included. Both versions have proven to be timeless, even though there are some gamers out there believe – and rightfully so – t...[Read More]

In a…odd… partnership again, Mercedes-Benz teams up with Nintendo to give Mario the luxury of the…luxury… car… I can’t even write well due to the confusion between this. Oh well. I’ll keep trying. In the new content that released today, you can play a new course called Mercedes-Benz Jump’n’Drive, where you play as Mario in a new costume, Mario ...[Read More]
A game’s scope is all for naught if the gameplay can’t keep up with it. After all, what good is a world to explore if there’s very little for your character to do in it? Thankfully, some more recent examples in the genre have provided us with the means to shake up the very world we’re looking in. One good example of this is Fallout 4. Though it takes some getting used to (d...[Read More]

Over the years, Mario Tennis has become just as big an institution as, say, Virtua Tennis, but obviously wrapping more around the Mario legacy instead of traditional rules for the sport. That’s certainly worked in its favor, especially when it comes to multiplayer, as a lot of antics can unfold by standing on the correct power-up pad, or landing a perfect ace to get past not one but two oppo...[Read More]
