Are you a fan of 1990s Disney cartoons? Do you remember when Disney decided to turn some of their minor characters into the stars of their own tv shows and games? Did you enjoy those shows and games? Well if the answer is yes then you are in luck because Capcom has announced that they will be releasing a collection of 1990s Disney games called the Disney Afternoon Collection.
The Disney Afternoon Collection will be made up of six classic NES games:
- Chip ‘n Dale Rescue Rangers and Chip ‘n Dale Rescue Rangers 2 – A classic co-op platformer featuring two playable characters, Chip and Dale.
- Darkwing Duck – Take control of the witty superhero Darkwing Duck and fight crime in St. Canard.
- DuckTales and DuckTales 2 – As the millionaire Scrooge McDuck, heads on a treasure-seeking adventure on a pogo stick.
- TaleSpin – Players take control of Baloo in this shoot ’em up and take to the skies.
Capcom has announced that with the Disney Afternoon Collection will come with new special features to the six titles. Players can hold a button to use the “Rewind” feature to go back in time to fix past mistakes. Rewind will not be available in certain game modes leaving players with a challenge. The “Time Attack” will have the player race against the clock against other players; Players with the fastest times will be placed on a public leaderboard. The “Boss Rush” mode tests players reflexes providing an extra level of difficulty when fighting for their lives against revamped bosses.
The Disney Afternoon Collection will also include material from the original games. Players will also be able to enjoy concept art, sketches, music, and other extras. The Disney Afternoon Collection would have been a great idea if Capcom and Disney had put more effort into the idea. Yes, players love the feeling of nostalgia they get when they play games from when they were younger, but they love it, even more, when they get remastered versions of the games they loved.
Hopefully, this collection will tide over gamers waiting for Kingdom Hearts 3 by filling them with nostalgia with past Disney video games. The Disney Afternoon Collection is scheduled to release on April 18th, 2017 for the PC, PS4, and Xbox One for MSRP $19.99.
