Take-Two Interactive recently released their latest earnings report. In this report, a specific section had a peculiar comment regarding a future title and it’s potential delay. The title in question is not actually stated in the report however. The quote is as follows: “The highly-anticipated title from one of 2K’s biggest franchises, which had been planned for release during the current fiscal year, is now planned for launch during fiscal 2020 to allow for additional development time” They have stated that this is a “highly-anticipated” title, which indicates that it’s a game the general public is most likely aware of. There are two specific games that come to mind with 2k; Borderlands 3 and the new BioShock, which is going under the code name Parkside.
The most likely candidate that many are predicting is Borderlands 3. Many fans are expecting to see Borderlands 3 at this upcoming E3, and Gearbox has let us know they will be attending the event. Borderlands 3 was among the list of games in the recent Walmart Canada leak, and it even showed a potential release date in 2018. Maybe this was initially the case, but for reasons unknown, Gearbox is requiring more time. The plan may now be to make an official announcement at E3, but with no release date.
It’s highly unlikely that the new BioShock is the game Take-Two is referring to considering we’ve seen absolutely nothing on the game, so it’s hard to even consider it “anticipated.” If it’s true that Borderlands 3 is going to be delayed until 2020, many will be sad, but it’s not like we were even expecting the game this year. The 2018 release date news was merely a leak that could’ve been fake for all we know. Still, RAGE 2 was another game in that leaked list, and not long after, Bethesda officially announced the game, making these leaks more valid.
