This weekend, many Americans around the world celebrated Veteran’s Day, Xbox gamers around the world celebrated the massive Square Enix announcement made during Microsoft’s X018 event. Microsoft’s X018 had a variety of major announcements including new Game Pass titles, Crackdown 3 release date, and a new Kingdom Hearts 3 trailer featuring Winnie the Pooh; for more detailed X018 news. Although these three announcements were massive, Square Enix’s announcement that the Final Fantasy XIII Trilogy and other Final Fantasy titles would be coming to Xbox One within the upcoming year.
Starting November 13th, Xbox Gamers will have the ability to play the Final Fantasy XIII trilogy through the Xbox One backward compatibility program. At the moment there is no official announcement whether or not the Trilogy will be Xbox One X enhanced but due the trilogy’s impressive graphics when the games first launched, we do not expect for any Xbox One X enhancements.
In addition to the Final Fantasy XIII Trilogy announcement, Xbox One gamers will have the opportunity to play HD ports of previous Final Fantasy titles. Square Enix fans will have the opportunity to play Final Fantasy VII HD, Final Fantasy IX HD, Final Fantasy X, Final Fantasy X-2, and Final Fantasy XII when they release on Xbox in 2019.
The announcement also revealed that each of the Final Fantasy titles has received the remaster and HD treatment to improve and expand the “quality of life” of the games while bringing graphical improvements to create a new and memorable experience.
Could this announcement be the reason why Kingdom Hearts 3 and Final Fantasy 7 Remake have been so delayed or was a different set of Square Enix employees working to make this announcement a possibility? Hopefully, Final Fantasy 7 HD is not too far off now that Kingdom Heart 3 is set to release on January 29th, 2018. We can’t wait to play the Final Fantasy 13 trilogy once it becomes available later this week.
