The Games with Gold offer for March 2019 was highly anticipated but received a rather lackluster welcome; this reception was due to Xbox’s decision to announce the new month’s titles the day before their official release. On the last day of February 2019, Xbox’s Major Nelson and the Xbox team announced the Games with Gold titles for Xbox Live Gold members for the month of March 2019. Typically, the Games with Gold offers for the upcoming month are announced at least three days prior but March 2019’s was last-minute. Many speculated that Microsoft might have a special surprise for Gold members for March, sadly that was not the case.
Although the first quarter of the month of March is over, Xbox Live Gold members still have the opportunity to get the Games with Gold March 2019 titles. Each of the titles in this month’s offer has name recognition but leaves gold members going, “is that all?” March’s Games with Gold offer grants Xbox Live Gold members two Xbox One titles, one Xbox 360 title, and an original Xbox game. Since E3 2017, Microsoft has added a variety of original Xbox titles to the Games with Gold program.
On The Xbox Hub, Major Nelson and the Xbox team revealed the Games with Gold titles for March 2019 and their price if they were purchased through the marketplace.
On Xbox One, Xbox Live Gold members can download Adventure Time: Pirates of the Enchiridion ($39.99 ERP) for free during the month of March. Plants vs. Zombies Garden Warfare 2 ($19.99 ERP) will be available as a free download from March 16th to April 15th.
On Xbox 360, starting March 1st, Star Wars Republic Commando ($9.99 ERP) will be free for Xbox Live Gold members through March 15th. Then on March 16th, Xbox Live Gold Members can download METAL GEAR RISING: REVENGEANCE ($19.99 ERP) for free through March 31st.
Star Wars Republic Commando is the only title from the Games with Gold offers for March 2019 that was relatively successful upon initial release. Both Xbox One titles Adventure Time: Pirates of the Enchiridion and Plants vs. Zombies Garden Warfare 2 are great games for the casual players and young children. Finally, there is Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance, a title that would not work on my old computer because the graphics were too intensive. Hopefully, MGR: Rising will be an enjoyable introduction to the franchise or a reunion for older fans.
