Well for the three people who didn’t know before April 3, the official release date of Borderlands 3 will be September 13, 2019. Many were speculating that the release date would come in the fall as past titles in the franchise have before. It was definitely a delight to many fans that they are getting the sequel a good six months after it’s been officially revealed at PAX East 2019.
Gearbox CEO, Randy Pitchford has been ecstatic to showcase Borderlands 3. “Borderlands 3 is being crafted not only as a love letter to fans of the series, but also as an ideal entry point for new players to jump-in alone or cooperatively, on or off-line, in the latest and greatest installment of the definitive best-in-class benchmark shooter-looter.”
This quote in particular will be a surprise to many gamers, as it states the game will be playable offline. Offline play has been a feature that seems missing from current looter shooters such as Destiny and The Division. It will be a welcome feature knowing that I don’t have to worry about lag when playing by myself. In addition to the release date announcement, it has been revealed that the game will be an Epic exclusive for the first 6 months.
The new announcement trailer shows off some snippets of gameplay that will surely be dissected by everyone in the next week or so. It blends some footage we’ve seen previously in the reveal, but with a good chunk of combat and zany character moments. We also get a quick look at our four new Vault Hunters; Moze, Amara, FL4K, and Zane. I must say that I’m most excited to play as Amara after I saw that smash attack she uses.

Gearbox has also released the pricing for all four editions of the game, which are now available for pre-order at the time of writing this.
