Benjamin Rivers releases HOME: Post Mortem Edition, Now On Switch

It’s officially spooky season, and indie developer and horror enthusiast Benjamin Rivers has you covered for horror on-the-go. Benjamin Rivers has officially released a new port of his classic horror game, Home, and it comes to the Nintendo Switch as Home: Postmortem Edition. This newest release of Home comes with a bevy of options for horror enthusiasts and new players alike.

The original Home was released in June of 2012 for Steam and was eventually ported to the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita, becoming a highly praised cult-classic. Home focuses on a young man, wrapped in a murder mystery that takes place within the dark. At first, things appear to be expected, but every choice made very slightly alters the course of the game, as well s the surroundings to the player. Home matches the environment to your perception, and as such, players can alter the very course of the game. Featuring a tremendous soundtrack, a strong pixelated presentation, and a simple but effective gameplay mechanic, Home has been praised as being one of the stronger examples of indie games and horror games done right.

For Nintendo Switch owners, and even those that have played Home before, there is plenty of good reasons to dive back into the madness of Home. Home: Postmortem Edition. Scattered throughout the game experience are interactive anecdotes, similar to a museum. When interacted with, these anecdotes provide narration to the development of the game and that particular section. It’s a familiar feature, as titles such as Firewatch and Day of The Tentacle Remastered have done similar efforts. Additionally, Home: Postmortem Edition also features an exclusive gallery, showing a deep dive into the development of Home. This also includes how the “Old-School Collector’s Edition” was made for Home.

Home really struck with audiences and players, and as there aren’t as many horror video games as there should be, seeing smaller ones like Home strike a chord with players is both exciting and inspirational, as it demonstrates how the smallest games can have the biggest of impacts. It should be very exciting and rewarding to bring the horror experience of Home on-the-go for family and friends to enjoy.

Home: Postmortem Edition is now available for Nintendo Switch.
