With all of the ghosts and goblins of Halloween slowly fading in the rearview mirror, we now look forward to what the true spirit of November is all about…DINOSAURS!! (Technically October was dinosaur month, just don’t think about it too much). On November 1st, Studio Wildcard alongside Grove Street Games announced that Ark: Ultimate Survivor Edition is now available in North America and will be launching in EU territories on November 8th.
For those of you unaware, ARK: Survival Evolved (the base game) is an action-adventure survival video game that strands players on one of several maps filled with dinosaurs, fantasy monsters, natural hazards, and maybe even other human players. You must use the world’s resources, your own cunning, and even the very monsters around you to survive and thrive in this prehistoric landscape.
Ark Ultimate Survivor Edition’s Contents
Since its release back in 2017, ARK: Survival Evolved has seen many updates and patches, now culminating in its latest release ARK: Ultimate Survivor Edition ($49.99). This version of the game includes all of the expansion packs (Scorched Earth, Aberration, Extinction, and Genesis Parts 1 & 2), allowing you to experience all of the amazing updates this game has to offer.
For those who already own ARK: Survival Evolved, you can purchase the ARK: Ultimate Survivor Upgrade from the Nintendo eShop ($39.99) and maintain all the progress and save data from the base game. ARK: Survival Evolved players will also receive a free update to enjoy the complete revamp of functionality, graphics, and optimization in the original game. (But really you should upgrade to the Ultimate Survivor Edition).
You get all the expansion packs starting with Scorched Earth. The subsequent packs will release every few months, eventually bringing full parity with the PC version. ARK: Dinosaur Discovery also comes with this edition and will be available starting on November 9th, exclusively on Switch. It will be a fun kid-friendly adventure within ARK filled with tons of facts on dinosaurs and prehistoric creatures with none of the violence. Switch users also receive new original story cinematic content that further expands the narrative of ARK: Survival Evolved and custom server support powered by Nintendo server networks.
Gameplay Updates
ARK: Ultimate Survivor Edition brings some amazing features to this already robust dino game! A dramatic improvement to all visual performance allows 1080p docked resolution (720p handheld), an average of 8x faster loading times, a consistent dynamic framerate of 30 FPS, along with better shadows, lighting effects, and overall quality of gameplay.
Take a walk on the wild side with this amazingly fun game filled with interesting dinosaurs, beautiful landscapes, and staggering survival challenges. Complete your collection of notes and dossiers left by past explorers, tame the largest and most fearsome dinosaurs, and build vast survival compounds to defend and decorate.
